Beginner’s Crochet: Scrubbies & Washcloths

Dive into the world of working with your hands through crochet, where simple stitches create calm, focus, and something beautiful to take home.

One pattern with infinite possibilities! Bring a touch of charm to your kitchen or bathroom with handmade scrubbies and washcloths. Made of cotton yarn, these are suitable for face, body, and we will even use a special “scrub” yarn that makes them great for dishes. They are eco-friendly and budget-friendly because they can go in the washer and dryer. In fact, the cotton yarn gets softer with multiple washings.

In this beginner class with Guest Fiber Artist, Marisa Reinsch, we will review the essential stitches. Then we will learn about a very popular and versatile crochet pattern: the Granny Square.

The Details

  • Two and a half hours of time to learn & create

  • All materials for the project are included

  • Note: Be assured that this class is appropriate for those new to crochet. If you are interested in seeing what we did in our previous class, resources are available at Comfy Crochet Corner.

You’ll Take Home:

Conscious + Creative: Couples Therapeutic Art Workshop

Are you seeking a fresh perspective on your relationship journey?
Do you crave a therapeutic experience that goes beyond the traditional therapy room? Perhaps you're looking for a nonjudgmental space where you and your loved one can reconnect, reflect, and grow—guided by Ashley James, a compassionate professional that is a Certified Recreation Therapy, with certification in trauma-informed expressive arts, and training in the Gottman Method.

Relationship Therapeutic Art offers a creative space for partnerships in all seasons—whether you're married, dating, engaged, or long-time partners. It goes beyond talk therapy by incorporating creative expression as a powerful tool for connection. Through art-making, couples can access emotions that may be difficult to articulate, explore shared meaning, and engage in a new, often more intuitive form of communication.

In our couples art sessions, you’ll explore emotions, strengthen communication, and deepen your connection through the power of artistic expression. My goal is to help you and your partner discover new ways to connect, heal, and thrive—together.

This unique approach offers a nonjudgmental space for couples to rediscover one another—fostering deeper harmony, intimacy, and resilience within the relationship.

In these sessions, you can be expected to integrate principles from frameworks such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and other therapeutic elements such as The 5 Love Languages, that will inform our arts-based approach below:

Framework - C.A.R.E.S

C: Connection - focuses on collaboration to develop background information about each partner and the relationship as a whole.

A: Accountability - emphasizes the important benefits of self-care and how each partner defines their version of self-care.

R: Rituals - clarification of each partner’s values and how to work collaboratively with one another.

E: Empathy - learn about how each partner defines their own expression of love to maintain emotional needs.

S: Support - map out your journey of life both individually and together while also considering where you want to go.

Dates:

November 16, 1-3:30pm

December 27th, 12-2:30pm

January 24th, 1-3:30pm

4 SPOTS | Pet Portrait Holiday Ornaments

Paint Your Pet, Ornament Style!

I work with you to help you create an artistic representation of your beloved pet, or any animal you love. Choose between a wooden piece or ceramic bulb!

IMPORTANT: After you register for the event you will need to send ONE photo of the animal you plan to paint. Send it as an attachment to admin@worksfromtheheart.org.

The photo that you decide to use needs to be in focus, or as clear as you can get it, with good lighting. It is best if the photo is a close up and high quality.

RESERVATIONS ARE ESSENTIAL because I need to collect the images and sketch them prior to the painting day.

When we all meet to paint, you will be ready to go with your pet or animal image.

Once you arrive, I will work with you to help you select paint colors for your portrait. I will also provide some general instructions about painting with the paints, how to mix colors, how to use the different brushes, etc. I will also provide specific art instruction and guidance for your specific portrait.

The cost of the class includes all materials as needed to complete your painting.

Because I need to pre-sketch your portrait, and I have limited spaces available, there will be no refunds for no shows.
